Feardotcom - Do you like to watch?

People are dying with bleeding eyes and in horrorfying fear. A young detective follows their story and comes to the only point they have in common - feardotcom.com a website where you can watch some psycho torturing women in his basement. Everyone who visited the site died within 48 hours and also Mike hands himself over to fear and the search for the lady who gives every visitor 48 hours to find her. "What do I get if I win?" he asks "Me." she answers "What happens if I lose?" "You die.".

Feardotcom is, against what the DVD looks like (actually it looks like very cheap trash horror), a great psycho-net-thriller. It doesn't surprise with an unexpected ending but it's keeping the story interesting and horrorfying till the very last minute. It comes with this quite fresh idea that a website can log into your neuronal system and kill you with your personal greatest fear.

And it also comes with a nice cast. Detective Mike is played by former "Blade"-actor (at least I think he was) Stephen Dorff and also the rest of the cast are well known faces (the names wont tell you much, these are actors you recognize when you see them but never can recall their names).

And there is one nice feature in it, adding up to the quality of this great movie - the movie website! Visit it (Flashplugin needed) to find out what am talking about!

Extras - Even moviestars are only human

Being an extra is alright but watching „Extras“ is even better! (Sorry, that one just slipped out)

„Extras“ is or was however a 12 episodes BBC series (plus one final movie lenght special episode) with Ricky Gervais as the main character Andy. Andy is an extra who wants to be a star instead of working with the big ones. Asked for what his job is, he always answers he's an actor and he tries to make his dream come true after 40 years waiting for it.

His friend Maggie (Ashley Jensen) is also a bit desperate about her full time job as an extra, being single, just as Andy, and on her side dreaming of going out with the movie stars. And so they use every single shooting day trying to get their thing done. Andy tries to get short speaking roles and Maggie meanwhile tries to catch the attention of the best looking guys on the set. But the so called stars are only human. Some are totally unlikeable and if one isn't Maggie does the trick to ruin it anyway by saying something very, very stupid.

In Season 2 which is episode 7-12 Andy even made it through to get hi own scripts produced as a weekly series but unfortunately it isn't as easy as he thought it would be and finally he is unhappy again with his so called fame.

This series is a must see, there is no way around it if you like movies, actors, some nice humor and likable characters. The 13 episodes are over far too fast in the end and you maybe even gonna miss the series a bit.

Beware, even your favorite actors will seem a bit too human to you after watching that but just give it a try. In those 13 episodes there do appear:

Ross Kemp & Vinnie Jones, Ben Stiller, Kate Winslet,Les Dennis, Samuel L Jackson, Patrick Stewart, Orlando Bloom, David Bowie, Daniel Radcliffe , Chris Martin , Ian McKellen, Robert De Niro

That is a damn lot of stars with some self irony to play themselves and even that makes it totally recommendable! The series won a Golden Globe and 7 other prices and now it won the status of one of the best concepts I've ever seen on screen! Go, watch it!

Tales from the darkside - A TV series classic

„Man lives in what he believes to be reality. BUT there is another world, just as real as ours but not as brightly lighten – a daaark side.“

That is how „Tales from the Darkside“ welcomes you in every single episode you like to watch. It is one of the greatest mystery series ever shot, especially because it usually includes some kind of humor. Even though it is from the 80s it is still creepy, funny and sometimes quite surprising!

There is the man who is haunted by a gnome when he refuses to give out sweets at Halloween. An other one has some kind of volcano in his cellar from one minute to the next and some alien woman comes out telling him she knew how to stop the time. A guy is getting a computer for his birthday with which he can change reality, make his hated son disappear and get a perfect family – if only he was fast enough. A writer is told by some kind of magician to surround himself by animals to write a bestseller and starts keeping lions, foxes, goats, pigs and others in his living room from the moment on and an illusionist is showing a kid how to levitate. In nearly a hundered episodes we get to know the mysteries of the so called “darkside”.

Unfortunaly, at least I didn't find so, there's no DVD released on this series yet but its still available on VHS and watchable on TV – if you get the chance: watch it!

“The dark side is always there. Waiting for us to enter - Waiting to enter us! Until next time, try to enjoy the daylight!”
